The Miss Venezuela 2015 pageant was not only the most watched live show in Latin America, but also served as a successful and strategic campaign to raise awareness on a very important social cause.
About two years ago we set out to develop a new social responsibility program for Venevision, our TV network in Venezuela. Cisneros Group, our parent company, has been “giving back†for over 35 years through the educational programs of the Fundacion Cisneros and as a network, Venevision has always been a responsible company, helping the schools in the area, running a yearly telethon to raise money for the “Hospital Ortopédico Infantilâ€, and organizing food, blood and toy drives during hard times.
A few years ago, I was approached by IESA, Venezuela’s leading business school asking to write a case on the Miss Venezuela Organization, a franchise we have owned for over 30 years.
Today starts the annual convention of NATPE, and within this framework, I had the opportunity to talk with Jane Wooldridge, business editor from The Miami Herald, about some important issues on media, content, Hispanic market and the new technologies, including social networks, among other subjects that are part of the Cisneros Group commitment to its audiences.
